The E18 between Oslo and Bærum is one of the busiest stretches of road in Norway. The road creates major environmental problems in the surrounding area and forecasts indicate that there will continue to be major population growth in the west. There is now a need for the development and upgrading of this stretch, both to improve the local environment and to provide better accessibility.
Brekke & Strand is currently actively involved in the planning phase in order to find the best solutions in terms of the choice of the route and the noise impact. We develop 3D map models, perform noise calculations for the entire area and conduct ongoing assessments of both different choices of routes for the road and possible measures to reduce noise for residents in the area. In this project, we have also made us of an acoustic laboratory, Lydlab, which we developed ourselves and which is located in our offices. We use it to, among other things, demonstrate variations in noise levels for affected residents in the area.
