COSLInnovator

COSLInnovator is a semi-submersible drilling platform owned by COSL Drilling Europe AS and was built at Yantai Raffles in China. The rig is designed for drilling down to 7,500 metres and in sea depths down to 750 metres. The rig arrived at the Westcon Yards shipyard in Ølen in the spring of 2012 for completion and testing before being put into production. Brekke & Strand assisted in this process of testing and assessment of possible measures (“Noise survey”).

The assignment consisted primarily of control measurements of acoustic conditions in relation to the requirements in NORSOK, in order to obtain documentation in connection with SUT. The main challenges are noise on deck from technical equipment, as well as noise from major sources such as mud pumps and draw work. Assessment of possible measures was based on measurements of sound and vibrations, as well as calculations. Measurements were also carried out of noise and sound insulation in living areas and cabins.
