The Kolsås line (Kolsåsbanen) is part of Oslo’s western underground rail network that goes from Oslo to Kolsås in Bærum. After 60 years of operation, the line was so dilapidated that it was affecting traffic safety. The line was therefore closed in 2006 and upgraded to metro standard and underground operations. The upgrade and refurbishment involved a total of 13 stations.
Brekke & Strand Acoustics was responsible for designing measures to alleviate noise, structural noise and vibrations for the reconstruction of the Kolsås line. This applied to all the rail sections from Sørbyhaugen (Oslo) to Kolsås. We have participated in all phases of the project, from impact assessment, feasibility study, zoning plan, construction plans and subsequent monitoring and control.
