Yara Glomfjord

Yara Glomfjord, the world's northernmost mineral fertilizer factory, is located close to existing buildings in Glomfjord in Meløy municipality in Nordland.

Brekke og Strand Akustikk AS has for several years assisted with mapping and follow-up of noise from Yara's factories in Glomfjord. For important noise sources, an acoustic camera has been used for detailed analyzes. The results have been used to assess noise reduction measures and to prepare noise zone maps for documentation to pollution and planning authorities. In 2009, new silencers were installed on the two 50-meter-high chimneys in the acid factory. The muffler was specially designed for the situation by Brekke & Strand Akustikk.
